OSA severity categories were defined using standard clinical cut-offs of the mean apnoea-hypopnoea index (<5 = no OSA, ≥ 5 and < 15 = mild, ≥ 15 and < 30 = moderate, and ≥ 30 events/h sleep= severe OSA).
