High integration values indicate a strong covariation between compounds within the structural classes. The horizontal gray dashed line indicates the NULL-model expectation (two-sided null-hypothesis). Asterisks indicate a significant difference (p < 0.05) compared to the NULL-hypothesis. The varying sample sizes (number of fungal species within trophic modes) were corrected as shown in the “Methods” section.
