The PCA shows the refined, centered-log-ratio transformed dataset containing 156 samples with each dot representing an individual sample. Ellipses are drawn around the five pre-defined sampling groups krill fecal pellets (dark red), salp fecal pellets (dark blue), krill stomach content (light red), salp stomach content (light blue), and the ambient plankton community (green) with a confidence interval of 75%. The explained variation in decimals for the first two principal components (PC) is shown on the x- and y-axis, respectively.
