a, b IHC with antibody CP27 specific for human tau does not stain brain tissue from nTg mice, but reveals a high density of tau inclusions in 6-month-old tau SPAM mice. Scale bar = 1.333 mm. Higher-magnification pictures show abundant perikaryal NFT-like tau inclusions in all major areas of the brain, including (c) dentate gyrus, (d) hippocampus, (e) amygdala, (f) frontal cortex, (g) temporal cortex, (h) parietal cortex, (i), thalamus, (j) brainstem, and (k) granular layer of the cerebellum. Tissue sections were counterstained with hematoxylin. Scale bar = 100 μm.
