Upon ischemia/reperfusion stress, the level of lncCIRPIL is decreased and p53 is increased in cardiomyocytes. The reduction of lncCIRPIL sequesters less p53 for ubiquitination mediated degradation. Thereby, more p53 translocate to nucleus to trigger the transcription of target genes to initiate cell apoptosis.
