In practice, the three guiding principles can be applied to any possible threat. Here, we apply it to effects of climate change on the Albertine Rift in western Rwanda. In a first step, the current context and the effects of the focal threat need to be understood. In a second step, possible context-specific responses based on the three guiding principles can be formulated.
