Colours in a, d represent feature architecture similarity among the identified orthologs and the reference gene, with a score between 1 (same architecture) and 0 (dissimilar architecture, or no features in the reference protein). The score is computed once by comparing the reference gene with the identified ortholog (FAS_F, dots on the graphic), and once by comparing the identified ortholog with the reference gene (FAS_B, background colour to dots). Data underlying the GO enrichment analysis are available as Supplementary Data 4.
