PEI are modified with SPDP reagent (step 1), and then the reaction products is treated with reducing agent DTT to expose sulfhydryl groups (step 2), and finally the Sulfhydryl-activated PEI are conjugated with PEG (n = 24) (step 3) and glucopyranoside to achieve PEI-PEG-Glu (step 4).
