Fig. 5: Variation in CAM across time for high and low responder subgroups.

High and low responders were based on TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, IL-1β, and IL-10, and revealed AUC and slope difference in cardiac autonomic measures (CAM). The graphs illustrate temporal changes in Heart Rate (HR), Root Mean Square of Successive RR intervals (RMSSD), Sympathetic Activity Index (SAI), and Parasympathetic Activity Index (PAI) pre-to-post injection of LPS. The 95% confidence intervals are portrayed by the shaded areas. For each session (between each blood draw), the cumulative change area under the curve (AUC) was compared between high and low responders. Subgroup (high and low) did not demonstrate any significant difference in AUC for any CAM. The slope of CAM over periods 0-120 and 120-240 min were compared between high and low responder subgroups; significant slope differences during these two periods were demarcated by horizontal red lines and red symbols (*=p < .05, δ = p < .08, δδ = p < .1).
