From: RUNX1 interacts with lncRNA SMANTIS to regulate monocytic cell functions
SMANTIS interacts in the nucleus of monocytes with RUNX1 in a Alu-RUNT-dependent manner to control gene expression. In SMANTIS knockout (KO) cells, the interaction of SMANTIS and RUNX1 is lost, increasing the expression of the cell adhesion molecules ITGAL and ITGAM and the adhesion of THP-1 monocytes to endothelial cells.
