From: Pushing the mass limit for intact launch and photoionization of large neutral biopolymers

A neutral molecular beam of massive functionalized polypeptides. A mixture of model peptides (5) and (6) was prepared in a ratio of 15 mg:140 mg and exposed to ultraviolet femtosecond desorption (λ = 343 nm, τ = 292, 15 µJ in 100 × 100 µm2). Even compound (6) stands out with good signal-to-noise ratio, proving the successful neutral launch and VUV postionization of this massive polypeptide. The fragments are assigned to the cleavage of Trp-Lys(fluoroalkyl) groups (as in Fig. 5) and are also found in the MALDI spectra of the same compounds (Supplementary Figures 24 and 28, see also Supplementary Figures 38 and 39)
