The THz transmission between wafers as a function of the ratio between the wafer separation and THz wavelength (d/λ) is illustrated in (a) corresponding to Eq. (1). A schematic of the homemade periodically poled lithium-niobate (PPLN) macrocrystal is shown in (b); the wafers are successively rotated by π for quasi-phase matching. Here the wafer separation, d, is approximately given by the total thickness variation (TTV).
