Structures of one stripe skyrmion for interfacial (a) and bulk (b) DMIs starting from the same initial configurations. The sample size is 300 nm × 300 nm × 0.4 nm with the same model parameters as those for Fig. 1 except DMI coefficient D = 4 mJ m−2. The periodical boundary conditions are used in the simulations. The z-component of magnetization mz is encoded in grayscale shown in the left color bar. The in-plane spin component is encoded by the colors denoted by the right color bar.
