The model is compared with ref. 29. a, b show frames from the movies of the motion and c, d show the corresponding velocity fields, where (a) and (c) are from ref. 29 (reproduced with permission of the authors), and (b) and (d) were obtained during our simulations. In panel (b), the green dots are particles, and the black ones are obstacles. The blue and yellow circles in (c) and (d) denote topological defects in the velocity field. This comparison demonstrates that our model is able to reproduce the “meander” state of motion discovered experimentally by Chardac et al.29.
