a Integrated XRD patterns for increasing T around 26 GPa. At 3250 K (black pattern), Ir still appears in its solid phase. The onset of melting, characterized by the first appearance of the diffuse signal, is observed at 3477 K (yellow). At higher T (5493 K, red pattern), it is possible to observe a change in the diffuse signal, that we attribute to the presence of a mixture of liquid/solid KCl as well as Ir. The black asterisk indicates the peak obtained from the Re gasket, caused by the large tails in the X-ray beam of I15. b Red and green circles represent the T measured from the upstream and downstream side of the sample, respectively. The black circle represent the lattice parameter of fcc-Ir.
