Infection cases in the Baltic Sea region normalized by dividing the total recorded cases by the official monitoring years, resulting in a per-year figure to allow for country-to-country comparisons based on Gyraite et al. 202417. The data for dark gray areas was incomplete. Very low suitability is defined as 0.0014 %, low suitability as 0.002%, and medium suitability as 0.0057% of the bacterial community predicted to be V. vulnificus in the colourscale.
