The differences are presented as percentage anomalies relative to the REF period. All calculations were performed after applying an 11-year running mean. Regions enclosed by red and blue lines represent the climatological mean domains of the arid and humid zones for REF, respectively. The dotted areas are where the ensemble mean results exceed the 95% confidence threshold based on a two-tailed Student’s t-test. Statistically significant results are corrected for false discovery rate (FDR; αFDR = 0.1; Methods).
