Each consecutive shaded region has internally consistent statistical properties, and each transition between segments is a statistically determined changepoint. The mean value of each segment is annotated (2 s.f.). Note logarithmic y-axes. 'Quiescent' periods are denoted by A, B, etc. The value n indicates the number of segments determined for a given β value.
