The right side of the panel shows heatmaps at t = 1, 25 and 48 h. Next to a continuous acidification of the mycosphere, the formation of distinct temporally stable pH gradients is observed. For better visibility, the contours of the colonising hyphae are marked by white dash lines in the t = 25 h heatmap.
