  1. Notes: This table examines the effects of stock market returns on other diseases, following equation (1). Each cell denotes an independent regression. The dependent variables in columns 1–9 are daily ER visits per hospital due to infections and parasitic diseases (ICD-10 code 1), neoplasms (ICD-10 code 2), diseases of the blood (ICD-10 code 3), diseases of the eye and adnexa (ICD-10 code 7), diseases of the respiratory system (ICD-10 code 10), diseases of the digestive system (ICD-10 code 11), diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue (ICD-10 code 12), diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (ICD-10 code 13), diseases of the genitourinary system (ICD-10 code 14), and other diseases. All regressions are OLS. Two-sided tests with a p-value of 0.10 are used and we do not make adjustments for multiple comparison. Standard errors are clustered at the year-month level. p < 0.1, p < 0.05, p < 0.01.
