  1. Conception rate was defined as successful impregnation during the first mating cycle. Uncomplicated vaginal delivery was defined as a delivery not requiring any intervention. External obstruction by peritoneal adhesions was defined as a severe adhesion that impaired natural delivery. Litter size was the mean number of pups. Birthweight was measured within the first 24 hours of delivery. 72 hr live-pup survival rate was the percentage of live-born pups that were still alive after 72 hours. Stillborn litter was the percentage of dead pups at delivery. Deliveries without any live pups represent mothers who only gave birth to dead pups.
