Catastrophic nexus of human decisions, aging infrastructure, political instability, and climate change has driven the human disaster in Libya and can trigger similar disasters in other parts of the world, such as Iran (Karkhe Dam), Iraq (Mosul Dam), the USA (Whittier Narrows Dam), and India (Mullaperiyar Dam), where large settlements in flood-prone areas are threatened by poor infrastructure and political inactions in climate change era.
