According to EASL and WHO a unit of “pure” alcohol corresponds to 10 g of ethanol, which can be the amount contained in a half pint beer or a spirit shot. A standard glass of wine or a pint lager will be equivalent to 2 alcohol units. A daily alcohol consumption of 2–5 units for woman or 3–6 units for men will trigger MetALD in patients with MASLD (fatty liver plus at least one cardiometabolic risk factor) due to bad dietary habits.
