(a) Voluntarily activated, typical motor unit potential obtained in intercostal muscle above the level of injury. (b) EMG recording in intercostal muscle from the lesion area showing signs of denervation with positive sharp waves and fibrillation potentials. No motor unit potentials (MUPs). (c) Registration from paretic muscles without voluntary activation showed normal MUP after spastic activation of the lower part of the body. (d) Myotomes with large amplitude reflected reinnervation and was interpreted as previous root injury.
