  1. The plate is divided horizontally into two sections: the wells in the up section contain Shewanella oneiensis MR-1 and ten mutants (Rows A-D), whereas the wells in the under section contain twelve bacterial strains isolated from the mixed anaerobic sludge in a bioreactor for wastewater treatment at our laboratory (Rows E-H) except wells of Rows A-D Column 1, Row D Column 6 and Row E Columns 5–7, which were used as a control without bacterial inoculation.
