Layout of Fe-Fe and Fe-As vibrations in the iron-based superconductors.

Fe-Fe bonds are in the superconducting layers and their vibrations attract electrons in the c direction, while Fe-As bonds are oriented along the c axis and their vibrations affect electrons in the a-b layers.
