Influence of DNA vaccines based immunotherapy on the reactivation of latent TB infection.

Mice were infected with M.tuberculosis. Following 4 weeks post infection, mice were treated with either chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy along with DNA vaccines till the bacillary load in the lungs and spleens of the animals became negligible. After the treatment, mice were maintained on food and water ad libitum for the next 16 weeks followed by bacillary enumeration in lungs and spleens. (A) Bacillary enumeration in lungs. (B) Bacillary enumeration in spleen. The log10 CFU results are pooled values from two experiments expressed as mean ± SE. In each experiment 5 mice were used per group. The data was analyzed by student's unpaired t-test, two-tailed (**p < 0.01 and *p < 0.05).
