Stretching single talin rod molecules.
(a) Schematic of experimental setup. A talin rod construct is tethered between a cover glass surface and a paramagnetic bead through NTA-His tag and streptavidin-biotin linkages. Force is applied to the paramagnetic beads using a pair of permanent magnets. Talin rod constructs are stretched in the presence or absence of vinculin Vd1.
