From: Adhesion force measurements on the two wax layers of the waxy zone in Nepenthes alata pitchers
Experimental set-up for adhesion tests.
A test sample (SA) was mounted on a platform (PL). A soft indenter (PH), the sticky half-spherical probe made out of polydimethylsiloxane, was attached to a metal spring (MS). Driven by a motor, the sample and indenter were brought into contact and then retracted. Forces were detected using a fiber optic sensor (FOS) and a mirror (MR).
