Austral spring (SON) SSTAs versus thermocline depth anomalies during the historical period (1911–2005). SST and ZT are both averaged over the IODE region (90°E–110°E, 10°S-Eq.) and normalized by their respective standard deviations. Linear regression and correlation using positive only (red regression line) or negative only (blue regression line) samples have been calculated over the normalized data with the correlation, slope and p value indicated. All plots were generated in NCL.
