Photoexcitation data similar to those of Fig. 4, illustrating the requirement for an overlap of the dye gain spectrum with a Raman line of interest.

In obtaining these data, the laser excitation wavelength was 532 nm and the relative intensity of the polystyrene Raman line at 563 nm was recorded. Results are shown for both green (Cy-3) and red (Cy-5) dyes. Error bars again represent an uncertainty of one standard deviation in the measurements.
