The dependence of the macroscopic static friction coefficient μM is shown for the length of the sliding surface L', i.e., the apparent contact area. The length of the upper surface of the slider is held constant at L = 100 mm. The error bars indicate the standard deviation. The experimental parameters are V = 0.4 mm/s and h = 0 mm.
