The relative contributions of various source sectors are shown as pie charts for individual regions. The areas of the pie charts are proportional to the regional mean exposure concentrations. The 12 regions are defined by the Task Force on Hemispheric Transport of Air Pollution18 (Supplementary Table S10); the Arctic, Antarctic and non-Arctic/Antarctic oceans are not shown because of very low values. Cumulative distributions of grid concentrations are also shown together with the European Union target value of 1 ng/m3 in these two maps, respectively.
