Glucose carbonate apatite (CA-[Glc]) complex schematic.
The generation process is simple, involving a mixture of the inorganic ions CO32−, Ca2+, PO43− and glucose and incubation at 37°C for 30 min. After sonication, the complex forms at the nano-scale and is degradable at acidic pH to release the incorporated compounds.
