Here component 1 (yellow) has a dipole moment, while component 2 (purple) hasn't. The dipole moment is polarized by a rotating external field B, forming an angle ϕ with the z axis. The angle between the effective polarization axis and the vector between the positions of the two dipoles is set as θ = π/2. All the atoms move on the x-y plane with an angular frequency Ω, which is along the z axis.
