(A) 31P-NMR spectra before 15N-NMR. (B) 15N-NMR spectra. (C) 31P-NMR spectra after 15N-NMR. The 15N-NMR signal of KIA14 and KIA15 at 90 ppm (blue dotted line) is typical of the surface-bound state. It shifts to 150 ppm (red line), indicating an inserted state for KIA17 and some longer peptides. For KIA22 and the even longer peptides, broad powder line shapes are seen in 15N-NMR (with a peak also at 90 ppm) and the 31P-NMR spectra show a perturbed lipid bilayer.
