Serum FGF21 concentrations are related to BAT activity.

A positive correlation was also found between FGF21 concentrations during cold exposure and BAT glucose uptake in the male subjects from the water-cooling group (C). Basal FGF21 levels correlated positively with the change in core temperature upon cold exposure (D).
