Effects of 4VP on the formation of subintestinal vessel (SIV) in zebrafish embryos.

(A) Representative images of zebrafish embryos at 72 hours post-fertilization with normal SIV formation after incubation in vehicle. A smooth basket-like structure was enlarged and shown in (B). The length of SIV was assessed as described in materials and methods. (C–E) Upon treatment with 4VP (3.125, 6.25 or 12.5 μg/mL, respectively), the formation of SIV was impaired. (F) The average length of SIV in the total of 40–50 zebrafish embryos were calculated and plotted in bar chart. Data are expressed as mean + SEM. Differences among treated groups were determined by one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s post-hoc test. **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.005 as compared among groups.
