The newly identified E6.5 gene expression signature derived from a specific stage of the developing murine embryo, which is representative of high cellular plasticity (and reflective of the potential to readily switch between distinct cell states), encapsulates a spectrum of changes that, collectively, recognizes the ability of breast tumors to relapse and/or metastasize to distant organs.
