Schematics of the experimental set up.

A 800 nm, 50 fs, p-polarized laser beam is focused on the target at an intensity of 1.2 × 18 W/cm2. The target is a Cu-substrate and on half of it Cu-nanoparticles are sputter-deposited as shown in the inset. The ion beam, sampled through an aperture is diagnosed by a Thomson parabola spectrometer (TPS). The parabolic ion traces on the micro-channel plate (MCP) is imaged by a CCD camera.
