Energy distribution of (a) generated hot electrons and (b) injected hot electrons over a barrier of 0.4 eV at ħω = 2.5 eV for a nanorod of volume 1000 nm3 and aspect ratio 2.5. In all calculations, electron’s thermalisation time in silver is taken to be 350 fs. The smoothed output shown in Fig. 2a and Fig. 2b was calculated by taking the moving average with a low pass filter with filter coefficients equal to the reciprocal of the span to capture the general pattern.
