Comparison of hot-electron dynamics for silver nanorods with a constant aspect ratio of 2.5 but varying volume.
Part (a) show the calculated generation rate of hot electrons and (b) shows their injection rates from the nanorod to a semiconductor over a Schottky barrier height 0.4 eV. Parts (c) and (d) show the electron injection efficiency and quantum efficiency of the nanorods, respectively. In all calculations electron thermalisation time is 350 fs and incident light is propagating in the direction of the wave vector k0 with its electric field oriented vertically.
