miR-181 family overexpression inhibited cell invasion and proliferation.

(A) Gene Set Variation Analysis indicated that NF-κB targets and the EMT gene signature were significantly enriched in the tumors with low expression of the miR-181 family. (B/C) U87 and LN229 cells were transfected with hsa-miR-181a, hsa-miR-181b, hsa-miR-181c, or hsa-miR-181d expression vectors. Transwell invasion assays revealed that cells transfected with miR-181 family member mimics all had weaker invasion capacity (*p < 0.05). Colony formation assays showed that treated cells exhibited a significant reduction of colony formation after 2 weeks of miR-181 family mimic treatment (*p < 0.05). miR-181b had a trend of more effective suppression on tumor cells invasion and colony formation.
