The morphology of some of the posterior lateral line neuromasts is visualized here.

The schematic drawing of the lateral view of a zebrafish larva (A) shows the position of posterior neuromasts. One individual neuromast is depicted as a green circle with magenta filling and the neuromasts are positioned along the lateral line of the zebrafish trunk. The neuromast is visualized in the merged images in white (c,f,i,l). These larvae were either levitated for 1000 s (n = 31, j–l), 2000 s (n = 27, d–f) or 0 s (n = 73, a–c, g–i). Anterior of the fish is oriented towards the left and the dorsal of the fish towards the top of the page. The number of neuromasts (mean ± SEM) did not differ between levitated and control larvae (B) (One-way analysis of variance, p > 0.05, followed by Tukey’s Multiple Comparison Test, p > 0.05, between all groups).
