From: Magnetoresistance in the Spin-Orbit Kondo State of Elemental Bismuth
Zeeman field effects.
Orbital-resolved LDA + DMFT DOS for magnetic fields applied parallel (hx,y) and perpendicular (hz) to the hexagonal plane. Top (bottom) panels show results for V = 1.05 eV (V = 1.25 V). Notice the field-induced Dirac valley12 in the basal x, y-plane DOS and the spin-selective insulating-metallic states in the out-of-plane (pz) orbital. The interplay between various competing effects in bismuth is visible.
