From: Lyophilization protects [FeFe]-hydrogenases against O2-induced H-cluster degradation

Specific H2-evolution activities of HYDA1 and CPI before and after lyophilization.
Specific H2-production rates of the [FeFe]-hydrogenases HYDA1 (green) and CPI (brown) were determined using the sodium-dithionite-driven methyl-viologen-reduction assay (1μg HYDA1 or 0.5μg CPI). The enzymes were both assayed before or after lyophilization and subsequent re-suspension; in addition, [4FeH]-proteins were maturated with 2Feadt prior to activity determination. Mean activities from at least 3 independent measurements are shown, error bars give the standard deviations.
