From: TAK1 inhibition prevents the development of autoimmune diabetes in NOD mice

TAK1 inhibitor elicits a Th1 to Th2 cytokine shift.
Cells were isolated from spleen of NOD mice at 13 weeks of age previously treated from 8 to 11 weeks of age with PBS, or OZ (15 μg or 30 μg/mouse). Then cells were cultured for 3 days in 96-well culture plates coated with 3 μg/mL anti-CD3/CD28 antibodies. Supernatants were assayed for TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-4 and IL-10 production by ELISA. Data are representative of three independent experiments. The results of duplicate cultures are expressed as mean ± SD (n = 6 in each group). *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01 for Control vs. OZ (15 μg or 30 μg/mouse)
