VP4-C∆2 protein without intracellular assembly induces apoptotic cell death.
DF-1 cells were infected with IBDV strain NB or transfected with pEGFP-wtVP4 or pEGFP-VP4-C∆2. After 24 h, cells were fixed with 4% formaldehyde and incubated with TUNEL reaction solution to stain apoptotic cells. DAPI staining was used to demonstrate the nuclear morphology of apoptotic and normal cells. The white arrowheads indicate TUNEL-positive cells. (a) TUNEL assay of IBDV-infected cells.
