(a) Optical system used for OV and PV tweezers. A radially polarized optical vortex beam is generated by a quarter-wave plate, a spiral phase plate (SPP) and an azimuthal analyzer and then focused onto the gold film (45-nm thickness). Light wavelength is 1064 nm and the incident power is 100 mW. (b) Schematic of metal particles being manipulated with the PV tweezers. The excited plasmonic wave propagates along the surface and is focused to a series of PV rings. The arrows indicate the motion direction of the particles.
