Trapping potential of a 1 μm gold particle in OV (a) and PV (b) fields, respectively. The particle is pushed away in the OV field, but drawn and captured in the PV field, where it is located close to the focal donut. The images below show the azimuthal force exerted on the particle in the focal plane. The arrows represent the direction of the force. The length of scale bar is 1 μm.
